A review of Sentech 128K service

I have already reviewed the 512KB package here so I am not going to go into too much detail. Once again the signal was tweaked using ProAsms MySignal

The 128K package delivers what it promises, unlike the 512K package which always seems to dissapoint me. The Telkom test looks good for the expected speeds;

The international test was a bit slower but nothing to complain about, one thing about Sentech though is that they do not offer great upload speeds which can be a problem for some users.

The Latency on the 128K package worried me, I expected similar results to the 512K package which already gave me a headache. The 128K package was shocking to say the least, local pings looked worse than dialup;

International was not worth talking about, and yes you are reading right, there is packet lose 🙁

One thing that confused me with the 128K package is that I could not do multi-threaded downloads, on the same machine with the 512K package it worked perfectly, I was impressed that I got full speed on a single thread, I left MySignal in the background to show the max and average speeds;

Overall Sentech lived up to its reputation of being the worst service provider in South Africa, it is suited to users that need more bandwidth but have the patience to wait for their downloads.
