Honda CR-Z specs and brochure

So I had a few people mailing me asking about the specs of the South African Honda CR-Z, well lets have a look then and to answer the most common question it seems that there will be no onboard navigation with the Honda CR-Z in South Africa.

The CR-Z uses the 1.5 SOHC i-VTEC engine with integrated motor assist (IMA) and provides 91kW of combined power at 6100r/min which is fairly reasonable for a 1500cc engine. The Honda CR-Z will reach 100km/h in 10 seconds and has a maximum speed of 200km per hour. The CO2 emission is rated at 117g/km falling just under the 120g/km tax bracket.

The 6-sp manual transmission will be the only choice at launch and we will probably not get the CVT version in South Africa given our lack of interest in automatic type cars. The fuel economy is rated at 4.4l/100km extra urban although the initial drives in South Africa indicate 5l/100km while the urban cycle is rated at 6.1l/100km. Driving in economy mode you could easily reach these numbers, I was able to get 6.3 on my first drive without paying too much attention to the driving tips on the dashboard.

Other than that it really is a standard full house vehicle with heated leather seats for the driver and passenger. I should probably mention that the back seat is really not suitable for adult passengers over long trips. The stock sound system includes a woofer and USB/Aux connections for MP3 players. The side mirrors are electric and heated and the electric windows do offer auto up/down.

The Honda CR-Z has the standard safety features including ABS + EBD and Vehicle Stability Assist. A nice addition is the hill start assist which takes some getting used to but is definately a nice feature of the CR-Z.

Well that is about as much as I know, but here is the Honda CR-Z brochure for South Africa, right click and save as to download. You will need a PDF reader (ADOBE) to open the file.
