Keep in mind that the newer versions of iTunes no longer support DAAP so you will need to use Apple iTunes version 6 or earlier.
Setting up your own Freenas DAAP server is really easy though if you are using FreeNAS, there are only two steps. The first thing to do is enable the ZEROCONF service from the system – advanced menu.
Then you need to configure you settings for your DAAP server from the services itunes/daap page
Hit Save and restart and you will be able to connect to your itunes server from most media players that support DAAP such as XBMC DAAP or older versions of Apple DAAP.
