5 Starcraft 2 UI features that are often overlooked

Some keyboard tricks are often missed by new players and they can be incredibly helpful when playing Starcraft II. Lets have a look at 5 of the more useful ones.

5 useful UI functions for SC2

1) ALT Key – HP Bars

Holding the ALT key will display the HP of your units in a bar above the unit. This is incredibly helpful if you are doing Micro.

2) F1 and Workers

Use F1 to select and idle worker and CTRL F1 to select all idle workers. Shift F1 can be used to add an idle worker to you current selection

3) SHIFT & CTRL Selection Tips

You can add units to your current selection by holding the shift key while selecting them, you can also hold CTRL while selecting a unit to select all units of the same type on your current screen.

4) Shift Queue

Holding the Shift key while issuing commands will allow you to queue up to 32 commands in Starcraft 2, you can queue virtually any command.

5) Building Hotkeys

Often overlooked but you can add buildings to your hotkeys by pressing CTRL1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9. Most people assume only units can be grouped this way but buildings can as well allowing things like making your command centre hotkey 1 and then using the S hotkey to build an SCV so while you are away managing a battle for example you can simply tap 1,S to build a worker.

Bonus – TAB Key

Use the TAB key to cycle forward through options and SHIFT TAB to cycle backwards, this not only works in SC2 matches but also for things like RealID chat.
